workshop in the wild

A breath of fresh air for your brand

  • LinkedIn

Inspired by the rapidly growing field of environmental neuroscience, these unique brand and creative workshops are about much more than getting out of the office and getting out of your comfort zone.

By immersing yourself in nature you can harness all the amazing wellbeing and cognitive effects that being in a forest or by the sea can bring.

You're not just dodging the distractions of being in your usual place of work. You're literally supercharging your brain and enabling it to think more creatively.

As a strategic advertising creative, with 25 years of experience working with some of the biggest brands in the UK and beyond, I can help you workshop a number of different brand challenges, in a new way that's more relevant, more real world ready and more inspiring.

And in a setting that's not just a change of scene, but will change the way you think.

“Research has consistently demonstrated enhanced creativity after immersion in natural environments,”
Kathryn Williams, Environmental Psychologist , University of Melbourne

In our, quite frankly exhausting era of always on, always available, always overloaded with information and bombarded with stimuli, nature offers a space where our brains can rest, refocus, recover and find fresh connections.

Everyone knows it instinctively feels relaxing or uplifting or inspiring to be out and about in nature. BUT...that instinctive feeling is increasingly backed by hard science. And this is the bit I get really excited about.

In the still relatively new area of environmental neuroscience, studies are showing how our brains are profoundly affected by being in nature. Even for a short period of time.

There are real, measurable improvements in cognitive function including perception, memory, reasoning, judgment, imagination and problem-solving. In other words, the great outdoors couldn't be a more perfect setting for a great workshop.

You can read more about the awesome science stuff here.

Refresh the good bits of your brand, discover even better bits, and come up with new ways to think about, and talk about yourself that will make you stand out.

reconnect

I help  founder-led businesses fall back in love with their brand, reminding them why they're doing this, who they want their business to be and what got them so excited about it all in the first place.

We work with with three amazing natural venues - all within one hour's drive from Edinburgh. All of them have indoor facilities as part of the workshop, with everything you need like food and drink, parking, loos etc. And each one is in a stunning natural setting to make your workshop even more inspiring and thought provoking.

You have questions

01

What do I come away with at the end?

A clearer, more consistent, more confident articulation of who you are and how you want the world to see you. Not a vast set of impenetrable brand guidelines that you file away. But real world ready examples of your brand messaging in action that feel excitingly more you.

02

Who is it for, and when?

Businesses of every shape and size. Quite often it's before the design of a new website or product launch. Or if new people have joined the business and it feels like a good time to get everyone behind who you want to be and what you stand for,

03

Is it all all year round?

Absolutely. Nature is always inspiring, and we lean into the seasons. Obviously if we know it's going to be chucking it down, we would want to avoid that, but you can't beat a bit of brand self reflection around a firepit.

04

Can AI not do this?

All the stuff you can get ChatGPT to do for your brand? Guess what? That's what everyone else gets too. Even if you're already using AI, then this is how you properly stand out and find your own thing. It's never been more important to have a strong brand. And of course this is all about connecting with nature and with each other. Those, you can't replicate with a robot (yet).

Stay on and play on

All our locations have extra curricular activities you can take part in if you and your team want to bond after all that hard thinking. You can tailor a package of additional outdoor activities to suit you and your team. From mindful walks and woodland yoga, to mountain biking and paddleboarding, wild swimming and a wild sauna, axe throwing and archery. Or just chill and enjoy some awesome food and drink from local makers.

“Andy’s workshop with us was spot on. He took the time to really listen, drawing out the human side of our team and shaping that into messaging that feels authentic. What we ended up with doesn’t just sound like us, it is us. At a time when brand messaging can often feel generic, Andy brings back the human touch and creates something we can stand behind with confidence.”
Karen Andre, Director of Sales & Marketing, LS Productions

"Can’t recommend Andy's brand workshops highly enough. He unearths stuff about your brand you never knew and then articulates it in ways that will just fill you and your team with pride. Doing this outside will definitely take it to another level. Brand building with more breath than PowerPoint and all in the beautiful countryside - what’s not to like?"
Melanie Morris, Fractional CMO
"I struggled for years to convey the spirit and purpose of my organisation. Really struggled. I know we create miracles. But could not articulate that. Andy took my thoughts, went somewhere into my heart, mind and soul and got it. Not only did he get it, he weaved magic and I actually cried with joy (and relief!!) in some places. Can't thank you enough - it's only taken 10 years!! Most awesome of respect to the word alchemist."
Julie McCann, MD, Masters In Minds
